Toronto Mandarin Lions Club
Toronto Mandarin Lions Club is a not-for-profit-making service organization and has been established since 1991. We are a member of Lions Clubs International. Our main objective is to serve the community.
In 1993, the Club has set up a Chinese Education Foundation. The objective is to organize a Chinese cultural annual event that allows the younger generation to read, speak and write Chinese through a competition. It was named Youth Chinese Literary Competition.
In 1994, the Club pioneered the Chinese Literary Competition. For the past 18 years, more than 20,000 people participated in this annual event. In 2004, the event has expanded to include music and art programs. The Youth Chinese Literary Competition was renamed Mandarin Lions Arts Festival in 2003.
In addition to carrying out our major objectives, we supported and promoted other not-for-profit-making organizations through our competitions as well. In 2003, we promoted the Canadian Red Cross, 2004 Mon Sheong Foundation, 2005 Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, 2006 Immigrant Resource Centre, 2007 Smile China Project and 2008 Canada’s National Ballet School.
